Who am I?
My name is Emily Chen, I grew up in Taipei, Taiwan and moved to the United States in 2011. My taiwanese culture is a big part of who I am with a little mix of the American lifestyle. Mandarin is my first language and I was fortunate enough to learn english very fast. My family keeps the taiwanese culture alive for me. We still speak mandarin at home everyday and my mom makes the best chinese food. My dad is my biggest inspiration when it comes to art. The friends that I have made on my journey in the United States have also shaped me into the person I am today. My friends and family are big inspirations for me and have only given me positive inspirations and encouragements. I have always had a passion for art and anything that is hands-on. I love being around people and meeting new people because everyone has a different story and background that makes them unique, which is why I can be very outgoing at times. I am really creative because I am always thinking of things that I can do/ create as well. The medium that I enjoy the most would be painting, acrylic and oil. The most recent series that I have worked on would be the Taiwanese lanterns, which were all done with acrylic paint.
